Personal Hiatus

  • Lost two phones in two weeks time. One to water - too much red wine made me dropped my phone in a public toilet, right in the hole. Then I bought myself the cheapest Nokia phone available. Successfully left it in a taxi in Manila. The non-respecting taxi driver didn’t think I would miss it too much. And then I got another exact phone. With new number.

Catanduanes

We had been away at Catanduanes, a island at the east of Camarine Sur province, Southern Luzon. No internet, scarce cellphone signal, no cable tv. It was a beautiful place. Very quiet and the hosts had been extremely great to us, it felt like paradise.

As soon as we got home, the tv was turned on and CNN was on screen. It is unbelievable what we had been missing out only on four days. The Spain Air tragedy. The Vice President for Democratic candidate. The Nori typhoon. The gymnasts scandal. The Pakistani suicide bombing. No news are good news indeed.

Catanduanes

World has been a nasty place. It is great to be out of touch for a while. Enjoy the sun. The beach. The view. The beautiful and friendly people. No phone. No computer. No tv. Nothing. Just a break.

When was the last time you had a break? How did you feel? I felt quite out of place at first. But I settled in quite nicely at the end.
